HTML/Framer.FM - My Case Scenario: Having established AVG Threat response was 21min after every hour, had a look at Scheduled Tasks via Control Panel (XP). Found the following: AT1 (schedule) at 00.21 every Mon,Tue,,,,,Sun of every week, starting 13/11/2010 (could be nominal/infection date) AT10-AT18 Same schedule as above AT2 -AT9 Same schedule as above Next Run Time, Last Run Time, Last Result=0x1 Creator - System Status: AT14,15,16 running Following has been proved safe on my system (XP SP3) Checked another XP installation (No Framer problem, No AT# schedules in Task Scheduler) Ended Tasks that were running (right click) Deleted AT1 - AT18 (right click) While you're at it, you may delete obsolete Tasks (in my case - Norton Antivirus) Restart- Then check Scheduled Tasks So far so good Thought - Once schedule is established by Trojan/Virus AVG cannot do much about the nuisance...

I have noticed that when the popup appears, there is nothing listed in the eventlog. It keeps saying that the file is not available. I am really disappointed in AVG. All of the websites listed as affected appear to be malware of some type. Not helpful at all.

What does this mean? "Object does not exist or is inaccesible" OR "Object of threat is missing". AVG has scanned my computer more times than you can imagine. I got this recently from, I think, Credit Expert website. It embedded itself in the "Boot-Up" sector of my pc. It would not allow the pc to boot-up, and kept returning to the "Advanced start-up" menu. I had to press F10 and perform a complete recovery. However, it has shown itself again, but was caught by McAfee. I have AVG Free too and this only discovered it in a scheduled scan, not as I browsed the web. Flipping nuisance!

HTML/Framer.FM is my bug, triggering AVG response 21min past every hour (Thankfully, others seem to have suffered higher frequency) start date 30APR'12 Restored month old BackUp - still there. Maybe on boot sector, MBR, BOOTMGR but AVG, Malaware, Dr Web Cureit!, TDS Killer scans don't pick up anything nor using CCleaner, PCTools SpyDoctor, PCTools Reg. Cleaner. As AVG have identified it, maybe they can enlighten us as what it does, what risk and how to get rid of it, short of a re-format and clean install. PS. By resetting system time past trigger time (eg. 21min past in my case) avoids threat until next hour...

Yeah, everything that I've found is from an older version of Framer. This one is called Framer.FM .... I've tried ATF Cleaner, and that kept the popup down the longest for me, but unfortunately it came back. From what I understand, this is a temporary file virus that reanimates itself so it must have embedded it'self somewhere in the boot sectors. I've also read that it's an AVG false positive virus. Whatever it is, I sure hope someone figures out how to kill it soon.

I am getting this alter about every two minutes. I caught the "bug" wile updating a website and trying to remove bogus users who had hacked the site and gotten admin privileges. In trying to remove them I infected my own machine. Do I need to cut this machine off from others on the network so they don't get infected? Now the threat detection widow is chiming at me every 30 sec. Help.

i apparently have this virus. it's attached to an htm file as part of a website that i created. a website that uses frames, no less... the file is on an external hard drive. i have the same file on my laptop and avg is not picking it up there, only on the external. sounds like complete rubbish to me...

I must also agree with Chris. We want to know what the HTMLframer virus does. Is it so much of a treat that it has to be removed from out PCs? I acquired the virus while downloading a game. My question is do I leave the virus and play my game or delete it? Uhg.

As a long time supporter of AVG, I am 100% disappointed AVG directed me to this relatively useless page which answers its own question "What is HTML - Framer?" with information about its frequency (not about what it is). This is just absurd for a threat AVG ranks in the top 10 at this point, and which other reasonable searching on the internet reveals little about, except that AVG has thrown false positives with this name in the past. My trust in the product deteriorates with such poor follow through. - Cris Mooney
